Description:Monty Alexander “D-DAY” Monty’s 80th Anniversary Tour
Monty Alexander, piano
Luke Sellick, double bass
Jason Brown, drums
July 6, 1944, the day of the Allied landings in Normandy, marked a turning point in the Second World War. But not only that: because D-Day is also Monty Alexander's birthday! A highly symbolic historical coincidence that the legendary jazz pianist likes to make his own, because his first name is also a tribute to General Montgomery, the famous liberator.
Thus, for his 80th birthday, Monty will be in a trio with his new album “D-Day”, an ode to heroism and freedom, to his own compositions and to a repertoire of classics written during this troubled period such as “Brazil », “I'll Never Smile Again” or even “Smile” by Charlie Chaplin. Monty will undoubtedly excite us once again with his Caribbean joie de vivre and his astonishing virtuosity. He will delight us with swing, classics, reggae and calypso rhythms. Exclusively at Victoria Hall Geneva.
