Description:Giuseppe Verdi wrote to a friend: “Copying the true can be a good thing, but inventing it is better, much better.”
All the characters portrayed in his operas follow this principle, today as before. Although we celebrated the 200th anniversary of the birth of this great composer in 2013, we still remember the emotions felt while performing his masterful works. They are so alive that we have the impression of being transported back to the time of their composition.
A patriot, Verdi was committed to his country. Already in 1842, the chorus “Va pensio” from the opera “Nabucco” became the unofficial anthem of Italy.
Giuseppe Verdi became senator in 1874.
In his music, Giuseppe Verdi translates with genius and mastery great love and tragedy through heroines like Violetta Valery in La Traviata, Aida or Rigoletto. His works are passionate and of great lyricism, they are also imbued with joy and humor.
All these characteristics come together in this fantastic concert series.
On the program: world-famous extracts from his operas La Traviata, Rigoletto, Aida, Il Trovatore, Nabucco and Vespri siciliani.
Airs, duets and ensembles known throughout the world, captivating choruses such as the famous “Va pensiero” from “Nabucco”, as well as the “Triomphal March” from “Aida”, combined with marvelous scenography, superb costumes and original choreography, transform everything into an unforgettable show.
The GIUSEPPE VERDI GALA is a European production: the orchestra and chorus of OPERA POLSKA, founded in 1989 by maestro Marek Tracz in collaboration with Wroclaw Television, is made up of the best musicians and singers from the major opera houses of Poland and 'other countries.
What would the world of music be without the operas “La Traviata” or “Aida” by Giuseppe Verdi? No other Italian composer has left such a legacy!

Marek Tracz prepared this lyrical show in a remarkable way and directed it with great passion... which earned the artists a long standing ovation from the approximately 1000 people present in the audience...
