Onyx is an American rap group from South Jamaica, Queens, New York. Formed in 1988 by Fredro Starr, Suavé and the late Big DS, Onyx is known for their hardcore style and hard-hitting lyrics. The group gained attention with their first album “Bacdafucup” released in 1993, which was a huge commercial and critical success.
Over the years, Onyx has influenced many other rap groups such as DMX, Mobb Deep and Wu-Tang and has left a lasting mark on the Hip-hop scene.
Onyx continues to be a major force in the world of Rap, and their influence is still felt in music today. Their hardcore style and hard-hitting lyrics continue to inspire and help shape the Hip-hop landscape.
