Description:
Supported by the musicians of the OSR, the Orchestra of the Haute école de musique de Genève will perform two works by the great Hungarian composer Peter Eötvös. With Reading Malevich, he set himself the task of transforming an image, an optical event, into music, taking inspiration from a painting by Malevich. His Harp Concerto, written especially for our soloist Xavier de Maistre, one of the greatest harpists in the world, is the result of a joint commission from the OSR with five other major international orchestras. We will also discover the first Swiss audition of the Sechs Augenblicke by Michael Jarrell, our composer in residence. Created in 2022 in Nantes and Angers by the Orchester National des Pays de la Loire which had commissioned it, this piece for large orchestra is inspired by Schubert's Six Moments Musicaux but in the language specific to the Genevan composer who deploys a beautiful mastery of the timbres of the orchestra to which he adds a piano and a celesta. The concert will end with the Suite from Háry János by Zoltán Kodaly, a little masterpiece of humor telling the story of a hussar with a bit of a mythomaniac.
