Description:
Short, repeating rhythmic motifs, dissonant chords hammering out the pulse that evokes a ritual dance of a pagan ceremony linked to the emergence of spring: at the time of its creation, in 1913, The Rite of Spring causes an earthquake in the history of music. From his orchestral score, Stravinsky creates a breathtaking arrangement for two pianos that is every bit as good as the original version. Starting from this monument, Swiss pianists Antoine Françoise and Gilles Grimaître take us on a journey across the American sound continent of the 20th century. From the mechanical pianos of Conlon Nancarrow, to the repetitive rhythmic patterns of Hallelujah Junction of John Adams, through reminiscences of the Rite of Spring In Folkdance by Meredith Monk and a French escapade on the Debussy side, with In black and white composed two years after the Sacred, in 1915, when the tumult and ecstasy of the Parisian scenes gave way to a dark conflict of global proportions, the evening promises to be powerful in vibrations and pulsations.

Chairs will be available for this concert. Please note, limited quantity!
