Description:The ostinato – this bass which is repeated tirelessly according to the same formula – is one of the characteristic points of baroque music. It is often she who establishes, before the text, the emotional atmosphere of a piece. Who does not immediately recognize the lament of Dido by Purcell by its chromatic descent repeated indefinitely like tears streaming down a cheek? Who can resist the temptation of stirring the pool listening to the chaconne of Zefiro torna by Monteverdi? The Chiome d'Oro ensemble will have fun with these different baroque basses to cross geographical, but also temporal, borders by disseminating between the baroque pieces some works of popular or current music, all based on this same principle of obstinate bass. Indeed, the greatest musicians of all places and of all ages have understood this well: why deprive yourself of a formula that works?
