Description:

TAMIKREST
Tamikrest is a music group made up of musicians belonging to the Tuareg people. The group was founded in 2006 in Kidal, Mali. Their music is a mixture of traditional African music with rock and blues influences. During his childhood in Tin-Zaouaten, a village in the Sahara located 215 kilometers west of Tessalit, Ousmane Ag Mossa, the group's leader, developed a passion for music and learned to play the guitar. Tamikrest is known for his committed lyrics which address themes such as Tuareg identity, freedom and the fight against injustice. The group has released several critically acclaimed albums, including “Chatma” in 2013 and “Kidal” in 2017. Their captivating and energetic music has captured a large audience across the world, making Tamikrest one of the most iconic groups of the Tuareg music scene.

Anouar Kaddour Cherif
Anouar Kaddour Cherif went from the large Arab-Andalusian orchestras where he is one of the youngest singers, to multiple nomadic groups which explore North African landscapes and popular music: gnaoua, chaâbi, and all folklore. At the age of 24, he left Sétif, in Algeria, to start all over again on the banks of Lake Geneva, in Switzerland. From exile, his harmonic quest tells of the mysteries, the opening to the world, and how music saves from the double absence of being undocumented. At a crossroads, with Clément Meunier on bass clarinet, Hannes Junker on double bass and Antoine Brochot on drums, Anouar Kaddour Cherif has just released a superb album “Dawla” on the Riverboat label. An intimate and powerful style that reflects the euphoria of alternative nights and the joy of encounters.
