Charlie Winston's music is the fruit of a patient and captivating distillation of folk and pop.
It is both mischievous and poignant. It is enriched here with the solemnity of a piano, there with the funky touch of a guitar.
In a word, it is universal.
The title of his 5th album, “As I Am” (release: 26.8.22), should be understood as a mantra. “He helps me remember who I am now and that letting go is not synonymous with giving up,” says the man who caused a stir in 2009 with the hit Like A Hobo.
At the time, a fast track to success opened up for him, unfortunately quickly blocked by serious health problems, so much so that he considered ending his career in 2015.
This new album is the culmination of a long journey of healing. ”
I am, as I call it, a 'Covid winner'.
I took advantage of this particular period to improve my relationship with myself and with others”.
From this new impetus was born “Algorithm”, which adds a touch of irony and melancholy to this postmodern love story.
“This song is an exercise in balancing pleasure and loneliness.

These days, we interact more with our cell phones than with most people, which contributes to plunging us into a huge hole of loneliness.
What “Algorithm” expresses is that this excessive use of new
means of communication creates a distorted mechanism in our love relationships”.
A misunderstanding that he intends to correct with “I'll Never Hold You Back” or “Open My Eyes”, two moments of gratitude in which he finally seems to find the peace of mind that had eluded him.
