David Was is a contemporary jazz group whose idea I had in 2017, driven by the desire to recreate the magic of Bowie's music on my land: improvised music. I worked on the arrangement of a selection of pieces drawn from his vast repertoire.

The treatment of the themes follows the principle of the Jazz standard: respect for the melody and the lyrics (also on the instrumental versions), harmonic and/or rhythmic enrichment, development of improvisation, writing of specific arrangements (listen to All the Madmen) and sometimes complete shift while keeping the frame (listen to Rebel Rebel).

Playing saxophones, I surrounded myself with Bertrand Guerra, guitarist with whom I have collaborated for years), Ivan de Luca on electric bass, and Ibrahim Térkémani on drums.
