Description:

Maghreb psychrock / Switzerland

In North African Darija, El Mizan means groove, balance, that balancing thing.

The group exults in a corny rock, punctuated by ballads with elegant vocal harmonies, intoned in Darija, this great dialect of the Maghreb. In concert, El Mizan transforms the space into a night of musical fervor where scales mingle that don't care about borders and build bridges between East and West.

The group was born in the Lake Geneva basin and draws from its great original Mediterranean mix – from Egypt to Algeria, from Morocco to Europe – ancestral and restorative black sounds. At five, they sing a blandish rock that exults made of poetic stops with vocal harmonies sung in Darija. With his first album "Harba" ("escape") El Mizan conjures up popular memories, heady rhythms, where scales and ideals mingle that don't really care about borders and build bridges between East and West.

They offer a unique fusion of Maghrock, sung in the Maghrebi dialect and accompanied by mandola, clarinet, percussion, bass and guitar.
