Joy – Abandonment – Reverie – Baroque – Dance – Living arts – 80s
Emanuel Gat returns with a choreographic musical comedy, a contemporary ode to the sound and atmosphere of the 1980s, with the music of Tears for fears as a backdrop.
No announcement, the room suddenly plunges, all at once, into complete darkness. The huge speakers placed in front of the stage roar the first very rock notes of Ideas as Opiates by the British band Tears for Fears. In a few minutes, the atmosphere warms up. At the back of the bare stage, the wall opens in thin strips allowing a glimpse, in the distance, of the backstage. Rays of light streak the air. One after the other, the dancers, dressed in magnificent offbeat baroque costumes, signed Thomas Bradley (dancer of the troupe), take possession of the space. In the dark, they pose with their backs to the audience. The silhouettes are chiselled by a chiaroscuro skilfully imagined by Emanuel Gat. The piece begins and continues entirely carried by the beauty of this subtle alliance between movement, music, lights, scenography. A grand and hypnotic show.
