Shawati (Rivages in Arabic) is the exceptional meeting between three formations. Together, they symbolize the richness of music around the Mediterranean. This super-orchestra combines pop culture, contemporary music, Middle Eastern tradition and Balkan melodies.
At the center of the stage is the electro-pop duo Bedouin Burger, with Lynn Adib – a unique voice from Syria – and Zeid Hamdan – founder of the legendary duo Soapkills in Lebanon. On their left, the Diwan ensemble (ouds, flutes, strings, brass, percussion), which carries away the crowds with its bewitching melodies. And on their right, the magnificent soprano Cristiana Presutti and an ensemble from the Geneva University of Music, who interpret traditional songs transformed by contemporary writing.
A unique and original project imagined by the Ensemble Vide – an interdisciplinary research and creation platform based in Geneva.
In collaboration with the University of Music of Geneva – Neuchâtel.
