Singular, original, unique… qualifiers abound to try to describe RIOPY, a Franco-British pianist and composer with a truly incredible career.
After a painful youth during which the piano played a lifeline role, Jean-Philippe Riopy took off at the age of 18, determined to earn a living with his music.

Ten years of wandering and improbable encounters followed (like that of Chris Martin, the singer of Coldplay, who offered him a piano) which took him to London where he settled and began to compose for film and advertising. His music is notably featured on the soundtrack of The Danish Girl and Shape of the Water.
Despite the budding success, RIOPY struggles with chronic depression. This fragility marks the recordings of his first two albums, and ends up reaching an increasingly large audience.
In 2O2O, success comes from the United States where RIOPY enters the Billboard Classical ranking, in which it still appears two years later.

In 2O20 and 2O21, when everyone is facing a global pandemic, RIOPY's delicate and virtuoso music works wonders in bringing comfort and calm to an ever-growing audience. RIOPY began a world tour in the spring of 2O22 which will conclude in Japan and then in China in the fall of 2O23.
It is in rooms on a human scale that the millions of listeners who listen to his music around the world can now listen to this touching and talented artist.
In Switzerland, it was at the Montreux Jazz Festival that he caused a sensation last July with a highly acclaimed concert.

In the process, RIOPY releases BLISS, its 2O21 album, on August 26, and announces two concerts in Switzerland in March 2O23. A perfect opportunity to discover the virtuosity, spontaneity and simplicity of an artist who has built his life alone, through determination and who is now happy to share his music and his experience with as many people as possible.
