Description:

Resonances, echoes, tributes. Each note of this program has been revealed by several hands. Behind Entr'Act by Caroline Shaw, there is a minuet by Haydn; Las Muertes del angel by Osvaldo Golijov echoes the transformed Milonga del Angel by Astor Piazzolla. Félix Mendelssohn's F minor Quartet constantly evokes his sister Fanny, who died shortly before it was composed, not to mention that there is, above the work originally written for string quartet, the arrangement for string orchestra by Julian Azkoul. Viatore by Peteris Vasks is a tribute to Arvo Pärt, and finally it is with an arrangement by Léopold Stokowski of Dido's Lament by Henry Purcell that the concert ends. And the magic lies in what unites these works: the beauty of the sonorities of the strings and the emotional intensity.
