The MEG has some 100,000 objects and 300,000 books and documents (iconographic, photographic, audiovisual and sound) from the five continents, divided into seven departments (Africa, America, Asia, Europe, Oceania, ethnomusicology and visual anthropology) and a specialized library.
The preserved objects bear witness to the civilizations of the five continents. This collection is the second largest in Switzerland. It illustrates Geneva's exceptional openness to the world and is largely accessible on the Internet.
